OptionIt Case Study: Startup Meets Drupal Custom Ecommerce

Speaker(s):

OptionIt (www.optionit.com) provides online ticket buying, selling, and exercising options for sports and entertainment events. The online platform enables fans to reserve access to future events without the obligation to purchase tickets – Reserve Now... Decide Later.

OptionIt is a Chicago-based startup company founded by members of the Chicago Board of Trade that originally launched in 2009. OptionIt first discovered Drupal through its Beta website because of Drupal’s robust and flexible user capabilities. After a rocky initial implementation with Drupal 5, OptionIt engaged with Promet Source and Limina to help bridge the gap into the next frontier with Drupal and the official launch site.

This case study will cover:

The Drupal attraction for startups – Why is Drupal a good fit?
How did Drupal meet OptionIt’s needs – Current and future?
Breakdown of OptionIt implementation and some neat features – Custom Ecommerce
How to sell startups on Drupal – Speed, flexibility, and power?

I hope that participants will walk away from this session with a better understanding of Drupal’s attractiveness and capabilities for development for startups. I also hope they gain an understanding of some of the techniques and tools to help them sell startups on Drupal. Lastly, I want to provide some insider knowledge of another cool Drupal implementation for the community to be proud of.

**This session is intended for startup and spin-off companies interested in leveraging the power of Drupal and for solution providers looking to support Drupal in their local startup scene.**
